Acrylics enable me to expand my horizons, and see painting not only as the creation of visual delights but also as a means of exploring the medium itself. With a large amount of permutations and combinations that can be done, acrylic media allow me to stretch my imagination and create mesmerising effects on the canvas. And yes, I am still learning, with every new canvas.
Oils are a beautiful medium and I love creating large works of subtle nature in them. I don't use oils in the conventional manner; I like to explore the membraneous quality of highly diluted oil colors and the way they allow layers to seep through, thereby creating magical and mystical forms floating in space. And of course, oils are earthy, and that's a good thing indeed!
Blowing in the wind - Mixed media on archival paper 30"X22"
Whimsical and friendly, these paper works help me break away from the intensity of working on oils and acrylics. I enjoy these creations as a counter point, as a way of exploring the freedom of paper as a medium and how it allows even the smallest impression to become something important in the larger scheme of things. Ink, acrylic, pens, pastels; all of them enjoy being here.
